The Pearl

The pearl is the world’s oldest known gem. As one of the first materials to be used for jewelry, it has influenced the histories of North Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the New World. In the Dark Ages, soldiers donned them as a magical shield from harm. To the Hindu, the pearl brought happiness, and to Arabs, fortune. In Greek, the word “pearl” meant purity, and the Romans gifted pearls as a gesture of love. Pearls are the miracles of nature, and like the oysters who bore them, each pearl is an individual.

Our pearl collection features hand-picked gems, from the lustrous white Akoya pearls of Japan, exceptional sized and luminous golden pearls of Australia, to the glorious black and silver beauties produced by the giant black-lipped oysters of French Polynesia.
